According to the National Council of Homeless Veterans (nchv.org):
“Veterans need a coordinated effort that provides secure housing, nutritional meals, basic physical health care, substance abuse care and aftercare, mental health counseling, personal development and empowerment. Additionally, Veterans need job assessment, training and placement assistance.”
Solutions for Veterans (SFV) was originally founded in 1999 as the service arm of a faith-based nonprofit. Led by a coalition of Veterans and other professionals, today this mission-driven, nonprofit organization establishes, coordinates and monitors the provision of services to Veterans at supportive housing communities. With onsite staff, Solutions for Veterans develops supportive service programs designed to meet the needs of each community it serves. Whether education or employment, health care or counseling, Solutions for Veterans ensures that Veteran residents are connected to the services they need to achieve greater independence and expanded possibilities in life.
Our localized, two-fold approach in this effort is both collaborative and comprehensive:
Solutions for Veterans collaborates with the local VA to incorporate the many opportunities available on each campus. In addition, Solutions for Veterans partners directly with community-based service providers that not only offer services of the highest quality but also have a keen understanding of the distinct needs of Veterans.
This diverse blend of services is unique but essential to serving Veterans and fulfilling the promise of supportive housing. Our seasoned staff members are trained to identify – through the trusting, one-on-one relationships they form with residents – what each resident needs, individually. Whether one or many, the variety of services available allows for a focus on the whole person, which in turn paves the way for Veterans to engage not only as a member of their living community but also of their community at large.
