Remembering Stan C. Parker

Solutions for Veterans has lost a beloved Board Member who served on our Board of Directors for four years. Stan Parker was a remarkable individual whose life was defined by an unwavering commitment to service and a profound dedication to supporting military veterans. Born and raised in Waco, Texas, Stan became an Electrical Contractor, a profession he excelled in for 40 years. However, it was his passion for helping others, particularly veterans, that truly defined his legacy.

In 2017, Stan founded the Stan C. Parker Foundation, a charitable organization with a mission to assist those in need, focusing especially on U.S. veterans. Through his foundation, Stan spearheaded numerous impactful projects, including Freedom’s Path Waco, an initiative that aimed to provide affordable housing for veterans on the Doris Miller VA Medical Center campus. His efforts were critical to securing the $14 million in funding for the project.

Stan’s contributions to the veteran community extended beyond housing. He was the driving force behind the annual Veterans Appreciation Luncheon, serving a full BBQ meal to hundreds of veterans at no cost, and played a pivotal role in organizing the Waco Veterans Day Parade, one of the largest in Texas. His work also included installing wheelchair ramps for veterans and assisting with burial services for veterans’ families.

Stan’s dedication was recognized by many, including receiving the Abner V. McCall Service Award and the Spirit of America Award from The Good Soldier Foundation. His influence and generosity were felt far and wide, from donating supplies to the Masonic Retirement Home to supporting the Waco Scottish Rite’s Camp Success program.

Beyond his professional achievements, Stan was a family man, married for 43 years with two children. His personal experiences, particularly his son’s service as a U.S. Marine, deepened his commitment to veteran support services.

Stan C. Parker will be remembered as a selfless advocate, a champion for veterans, and a man whose life was a testament to the power of service and community. His legacy, through the Stan C. Parker Foundation and his work with Solutions for Veterans, will continue to inspire and impact the lives of those he dedicated his life to helping.

In loving memory of Stan C. Parker, 1959-2024: “The Lord smiles at a fool and grins at me all the time!”
